William T. Kotz

William T. Kotz Sr. 91, of 23 Kotz Rd; Rensselaer Falls passed away Thursday Oct. 29, 2009 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
He was born December 9, 1917in Auburn, NY, son of George and Amelia (Simon) Kotz. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1935 and from St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. He served in the US Army European Theatre during WWII from 1943-1946. He was a nurse at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center from 1949-1975. He married Marion Smith from Fort Covington on April 21, 1946 in St. Patrick's Church in Hogansburg. He enjoyed reading, hunting and enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife: Marion; two sons William Jr. and Marlene Kotz of Canton and George and Barbara Kotz of Ogdensburg; six daughters: Sandra Gonyea of Rensselaer Falls; Carol and Paul Lytle of Rensselaer Falls; Susan Kimbal of Crestview, FL; Mary Lou Carvel of DeKalb Jct; Veronica and Dan Routh of N. Yarmouth, ME and Kimberlly and Cliff Burke of Magnolia, OH; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by brothers Walter and Fred and a sister Helen Wood and an infant sister Stephanie.
Memorial Services will be held Friday afternoon October 30, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
