Father -
Hard to call you dad. As your first born child I am sad to hear of your passing. I wish I had been told of your passing prior to finding out in early February. It is a shame we lost touch after I turned 13. I often wonder what our lives would have been like or had in store for us had we been father and son. Alas, I guess God had different paths for us. I honestly wish you knew what great people your first family became. Mark and Tracy have each been teaching for 30 years; Dean works as a Medical Examiner for Monroe County; and I was a college coach for 30 years and now am a State Director of Coaching here in Indiana and work as a National Instructor for US Soccer. All four of us went on to earn a Masters degree. You would have been proud!

Jim is a great friend. When he left Texas he left a void in all our hearts for though we knew he was going to live with family in Clarkson, which we knew excited him beyond our wildest hopes for him, we were losing the immediate contact of a dear friend and fellow Christian. We kept up with all his exploits, and boy, it did not surprise us of his activities with his grand children, his woodworking, his son, his new church. A caring man, who never pretended to be anything else but who he was. When he lost Jan we felt the pain for we lost a treasure and I a big sister. Words come hard, but I know Jim is with his Lord and Savior for if ever a man was worthy to grace the golden streets of Heaven it is he. Jim I knew you for fourteen years, and it was not enough. Maybe somehow I can see him sailing on one of those beautiful sailing ships, come to life, that he loved to carve from nothing to something spectacular. Love you friend, and my brother in Christ.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family at this difficult time. He and I were classmates in Clarkson's class of 1954 - he in civil engineering and I in mechanical.
We were also fraternity brothers in Lambda Iota. As the last Clarkson class to spend its freshman year in Malone we were a small group but became a close-knit group as we spent that year in isolation in cold Malone and we have been a close group ever since. Last but not least, Jim was one of the ushers at my wedding in June, 1954.

My prayers and heart go out to John, Jim Jr. and Lisa and their families for the loss of their Dad! He was one outstanding, caring and exceptional man who loved you dearly. Since he'd been living in Canton, he would come to Lowville a couple times a year to visit some of us friends. We always loved and treasured his visits!

Jim was a special person and friend. He taught me that no matter the obstacles God will be there with you and make it work. I will remember his smile and optimism forever.

Lisa, my prayers and thoughts are with you and all of your family as you go through this time. We all know where are last home is and desire to experience it, but the separation of loved ones still hurts. God be with you.

For the short time that I knew Jim and his wife, they were both so kind and caring. They invited us to their home for lunch one day. Always found it a privilege to sit by them at church. I was also glad to shorten a pair of trousers for him and Janet and I went quilting friends. It was a sad day I gave him a hug and wished him a save trip back to NY, but knew that is where the Lord had led him in his last years. A great man. Prayers and lasting wonderful memories of a great, kind and loving man.

We are thankful that we had friendship with Jim (and Jan) at Stonebridge U M Church. We were sad when Jan passed and when you moved back to New York. GOD BLESS. Your suffering is over and you are at a better place.
