I was privileged to have Doris in my Spanish class at Wadhams Hall Seminary. Her enthusiasm was a positive influence on the seminarians and I recall she was the star of the class. She was a vibrant and kind woman, in addition to being a strong, dedicated leader in the community. I hope the many fond memories of Doris will be a comfort to her family.

Dear Katy, John and Paul, I have so many fond memories of your mom. Although I was a terrible piano player, I did love my lessons with your mom. We had so much fun at family parties-your mom had the best laugh! I miss seeing all of you and hope that we can reconnect. Sending love and prayers your way. Ruth

Katie, John and Paul, I am sorry to hear of Aunt Doris passing. She is now at peace and no longer suffering. Know that she was beloved to many people. She had the best sense of humor! I remember the family parties that your parents or my Grandma (Aunt Elaine) hosted, there was always lots of laughter. I learned at an early age from Grandma and Aunt Doris to laugh and laugh often! I am sure the family good times will continue now that they are all reunited. You are all in my prayers.

Our deepest sympathy, your mother simply was an icon in this town.I had the pleasure of working with her for two decades on the hospital board and we both served with Doris on the PTA board. She was a wonderful advocate for the community, blessed with a keen intellect, an incredible grasp of the language that always made us unsramble the professional alhabet soup.of acronyms we all use in the business..and she did so witj humor and grace. She is missed !

Dear Katie, John, Paul and family,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your mom was a wonderful neighbor, teacher and member of the community. I fondly remember those early days of piano lessons - she made it interesting, fun and always a challenge. She was also one of the outstanding members of the village who helped to raise us. Most recently, despite her own challenges, she made it a point to come to my father's memorial service. She's been a pillar in the community that will be greatly missed. My thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to all of you.

Sincerely,
Tobi Goldberg

Dear Paul, Katie and John - I was very saddened to learn on Friday of your mother's death and am sending you all heartfelt hugs of condolence. I always looked forward to seeing, or at least talking with your Mom in July when I came east to get my St. Lawrence River "fix" with my brother and his family. We would catch up on mutual friends and share memories of past times with "Uncle Harry", my parents, Bud and Betty, and my Aunt Charlotte. We'd reminisce about times on the Menkel's island and singing in the church choir. And she'd always ask after my son, Ethan, and husband Peter and share her news about all of you. We always had a lovely time. I will miss her. With loving thoughts, Wendy

I recall fondly the days when Doris and I shared board responsibilities at WPBS and the St. Lawrence County Historical Association. She was a truly good citizen, working tirelessly, creatively, and enthusiastically for causes and organizations she cared about. Beyond that, though, she was great fun and a good friend. I loved her honesty, her wit and wisdom, and even her frugality. I shall miss her.

I remember with deep affection Doris and the joy she brought into my childhood home. As a friend of my sister Willie whenever she would visit us music and happiness filled the air. I treasured her company, laughter and kindness.

Dear Katie, John and Paul,
I was so very sorry to learn of the passing of your mom. She was a real mentor to me and a wonderful piano teacher. She encouraged me to pursue a music degree and helped prepare me for my auditions. I did get my degree and taught elementary classroom music for forty years. I will always remember her encouraging words, her sense of humor and her laugh! I continued to hear from her every Christmas and looked forward to seeing her when I was home for a visit. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the days ahead.

I knew Doris from the CHMC Foundation Board. She was vocal, compassionate, informed and always knowing what the community wanted for their hospital. I made sure she had grapes and Fritos for her lunch at the Board meetings. I always considered her the Grand Dame of Ogdensburg. She was quite the lady and I will miss her. Now she and Harry are holding hands in Heaven. Blessings to her.
