Michael Locy Obituary

Michael Leslie Locy, 69 passed away on Friday, November 18 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

He was born in Gouverneur on May 29, 1953, to Robert K. Locy Sr. and Loana A. LaVare Locy. He graduated from Hugh C. Williams High School, Canton in 1971,and he attended both Suny Canton ATC and SUNY Potsdam.  He retired from the Navy and the Naval Reserve with 20 years of service with the rank of OS1. The USS Saratoga, USS John F. Kennedy, and USS DeWert, took him to many interesting places including Egypt, Spain, Italy, France and Greece. Michael worked for Tamarck Tree Service and retired from the Lewis Tree Service.

Calling hours for Michael will be held at the O’Leary Funeral home in Canton, NY on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-7:30pm with prayer services beginning at 7:30pm.

Michael is survived by his partner of 35 years, Colleen Berger and her children, Peter and Liz Bradish. Colleen’s grandchildren, Addison Bradish, Amethyst Wood, and Hailey Bradish. He is survived by his siblings, James D. and Jean Molson Locy, Montello WI, William F. Locy and MelanieGilbert Locy, Canton NY, Patrick T. Locy, Williston ND, Aloysius R. and Sandra C. Mouthrop Locy, Canton NY, Daniel E. Canton NY , Denise Hamilton Locy, Colton, NY, Katherine J. Locy Barber and James P. Barber, Chaumont, NY, Roxanne H. Locy, Canton NY, Joseph A. Locy, Virginia Beach, VA, Marta R. Locy Milos and Donald C. Milos, Poestenkill NY, Renee M. Locy Wooster and Douglas W. Wooster, Plattsburgh, NY, Paul A. Locy and Bali Davis Locy, Canton, NY.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, a sister Deidra (died ininfancy), brothers, Robert K. Jr., Christopher G., sisters-in-law Elizabeth Kahn and Elise (Lee) Locy. He had 44 nieces and nephews and 52 great nieces and nephews. 

Michael enjoyed going on adventures with his three granddaughters in the Adirondacks and swimming in the backyard pool.  He took great pride in his garden and was a season ticket holder for the SLU men’s hockey team.  He lived in the Canton/Potsdam area for the past forty years.
