Julie A. Manders passed away on September 24 th surrounded by her loving husband of 45 years, Steve,
her children, Sam (Abbey), Leah (Mason), and her sister Jacqueline Schwartz and her husband Ben. Julie
was born on August 11, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to Muriel and Stuart Fleischer. She moved to the North
Country in 1980 when she and Steve built a house in Old DeKalb. Julie spent her entire career as a
mental health professional and helped hundreds and hundreds of people. After retiring from the St.
Lawrence Psychiatric Center, she worked part time at Reachout where she continued to help people in
need. Also in retirement, Julie joined the Grasse River Players and acted, danced and sang in many
productions. She loved to go for walks with her beloved dog, Finney, and to bike daily with Steve when
they weren’t kayaking, and skiing in the winter. In the years Julie lived in the North Country she made
numerous friends who adored her and Steve. Julie was a beautiful person inside and out and brought
joy and compassion to all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be missed beyond belief every
day by those who loved her.
