Frank “Reggie” Burns, 69, Pierrepont NY
Up a sunny dirt road in the North Country sits a house on a hill. This is the house that love built. Reggie Burns, strong and brave, left this house for his heavenly home on Sunday, December 16th.
Born the oldest boy of Frank and Leona Burns’s 16 children, Reggie was a fierce protector, provider, and entertainer – fast as a pistol and a son of a gun. At 12 years old, he met Dale Lincoln, and from that magic moment on, she held his heart. She was everything he ever needed. Reggie and Dale filled their house with joy and unconditional love for their six children and so many more who happened their way and became family.
Our King of the Road drove like the machine was an extension of his own body – be it on two wheels or eighteen. When Reggie got behind the wheel, we never knew where the adventure would take us. But we knew if it broke, he could fix it; there would be music along the way; and we’d make a stop or two for coffee or a coke and a sandwich. A life of memories made on the road, but he always looked forward to coming home.
Reggie built his house with strong hands, rough and callused from hard work, yet incomparably gentle in touch. He left the way he lived – on his own terms. Mischievous, delightful, and determined to the last. Held by his beloved Dale. He left us with his laugh ringing in our ears and his voice singing the songs of his life in our heads. We surrounded him – siblings, children, grandkids, and the many who loved him – our rock, Reggie, the man who built this house on a hill, crafting his legacy of love in his own blood, sweat, and tears.
If you want to honor Reggie’s memory, we ask that you make a gift to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley at 6805 US Highway 11, Potsdam NY 13676. No services are being held. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.olearyfuneralservice.com.
