Elizabeth L. “Peggy” McDermid, 67, of Canton passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio following a recent surgery.
Peggy, as she was most well-known, was born March 16, 1953 to Millan and Verlie (Perrault) McDermid. She was graduated from Canton High School. Peggy worked as a private duty nurse prior to becoming a CAN and working at the then Moongate Nursing Home and for NYS ARC. In 2005, Peggy began working for the St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging, where she had become the face and the voice of the program. Everyone who called or visited was greeted by perky hello or a welcoming smile.
Peggy enjoyed doing puzzle books and shopping, she loved animals, especially her cats, but most of all Peggy cherished time with family.
Peggy is survived by two children, Tiffany (Martin) Todd; Travis (Nina) Norton; grandchildren, MacKenzee and Maddison Todd; Jace Krakovitz, Lillian and Kendrick Norton and a great-granddaughter, Everlie. Also surviving are a sister, Rita (Rolland) Wood and a brother, Millan IV (Eva) McDermid as well nieces and nephews.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Millan and Verlie McDermid.
There will be a private funeral service followed by interment in the Fairview Cemetery in Canton.
