Wayne McDonald, 85, of Rensselaer Falls, died peacefully in the comfort of home, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, where he was under the care of family following a long illness.

Wayne was born March 30, 1939 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Medward E. and Harriet A. (Spooner) McDonald. He grew up in Lisbon and worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway and for Morning Star Homes. He moved to Arizona in 1976, there he owned and operated WJ's Pool Cleaning for many years, as well as worked various other jobs. In recent years he had moved back to the area and lived with his daughter, Katherine and her family in Rensselaer Falls. He was a simple man, who enjoyed puttering and helping around the house.

Surviving besides his daughter Katherine and husband James, are children, Debbie Benware, Darlene Tassie, Steve McDonald and Cindy McDonald, step children Doug, Raymond and Phil Dilcox, several grand and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Bobby McDonald and Linda and Loring Tilson, a cousin who was the sister he never had, Carolyn Duffy and nephews Teddy, Jerry and Richard McDonald.

In addition to his parents Medward and Harriet, he was predeceased by his second wife, Arlene (Parshall) McDonald, two sons Robert and Dwayne McDonald, a brother Bernard McDonald.
