A Mass of Christian Burial for Wayne Anthony LaPointe, Sr., 83, of Potsdam, will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam. Wayne went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 5 while at his home surrounded by family.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Michele Lee LaPointe of Norwood; sons, Wayne A. (Tony) LaPointe, Jr. and Barbara Adams and Paul LaPointe and wife Gina, both of Hannawa Falls. Also surviving are his older sisters Genevieve Miller and Shirley Sharlow, both of Potsdam; 10 grandchildren, Jessica (LaPointe) of Daytona, Fla.; Colin (Tammy) LaPointe-Potter of Indianapolis; Danielle, Courtney and Jordan LaPointe all of Potsdam; Michael (Colleen) Volforte; Jennie (Michael) Smith; Christopher (Kelly) Adams; Kristin Oegema (Bart), and Michael Knaebel. They have nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carole Goolden (Leon) of Colton, NY and several nieces and nephews with whom he was very close.
He is predeceased by the love of his life, and wife of 61 years, Marilyn Hughto LaPointe.
Wayne was born on June 7, 1932 in Potsdam to the late George and Alma (Brien) LaPointe. Wayne and Marilyn married on May 30, 1953 when he was on leave while serving in the U.S. Navy. Wayne served honorably from 1950-1954 during the Korean War on the USS Midway (CV-41). He was a longtime member of the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus. Wayne and Marilyn were lifelong Potsdam residents and owned several businesses over the years, including LaPointe Electric, LaPointe's Liquor Store and the Kit N Kaboodle Gift Shop, which they operated for 17 years. In his later years, Wayne served as a driver for the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services. Wayne was also a "charter member" of the Foxy Roxie's Breakfast Club.
