Wayne Calvin Eells Sr.

Wayne Calvin Eells, Sr., 78, of Russell died on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at his home where he was in the company of family while under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

Wayne was born March 15, 1948 in Hermon, a son of the late James C. and Nina (Bice) Eells. Wayne was a graduate of the Union Springs Academy and Atlantic Union College. Wayne was an Independent Contract for most of his career in the Albany Area, relocating to the North Country in recent years.

Wayne married Judith Bentz on June 9, 1968 in Albany, NY. He enjoyed going to auctions, spending time with his grandchildren and was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Judith, sons Wayne Eells Jr. and Christopher Eells, grandchildren Justin, Joshua, Michaela, Natalie and M. Riley Eells, and a great-grandson Calvin Wayne Eells. Also surviving are a brother Robert (Tess) Eells and sister Patricia (Larry) Eells Briggs, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents James and Nina, Wayne was predeceased by a sister Carol P. Eells.

Callings hours for Wayne will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 11:00 am and the Canton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Court Street, Canton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
