Thomas Darrell Steen, 77, of Clyde, NY and formerly of Lisbon, died after an extended illness on February 29, 2012. He was born on August 8, 1934 in Lisbon, the son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Martin) Steen.
Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Terri (Patrick) Richards of Bristol, IN and Trudy Rodriguez, of CT; three granddaughters, Jennifer Seltzer, Carissa Rodriguez, and Theresa Rodriguez, a great grandson, Zachary Seltzer. He is also survived by three brothers; his twin Donald Steen of Canton; Vernon Steen of Syracuse; Francis Steen of Clyde, NY; by two sisters Ruby Rexford of Canton and Cora Besaw of Morley, and many nieces and nephews.
During the Korean War he proudly served in the 12th Infantry of US Army. In 1996, after 36 years of service, he retired from the Laborer's Local 17, in Newburgh, NY. He was a man who loved the outdoors and nature, and was always willing to help someone in need.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 4th at 11:00am at the Flackville Cemetery in Lisbon. The family is requesting, because of his love for dogs, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society.
