Susan M. Strate, 60, of Canton passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh where she was in the company of her family.

Sue as most called her was born June 29, 1965 in Ogdensburg to the late John and Mary (Condlin) Ladoceour. She attended Madrid-Waddington Schools and later earned her GED. On May 21, 1988, she was married to Barry Strate. Sue worked for several years in dining services at SUNY Canton, first in Rendezvous and later her own campus eatery, Serendipity.

Sue is survived by her husband Barry, sons Ryan Strate (Stefani Griffith), Joshua Strate, daughters Sarah Fox and Brandy (Robert) Taylor, grandchildren Jayden Strate, Cooper Griffith, Eisley Fox and Jacob Taylor. Also surviving are a brother Michael Ladoceour and sister Sandra (Linda Seeley) Ladoceour.

In addition to her parents, Sue was predeceased by a sister, Patti Olmstead.
