Funeral service for Mrs. Shirley A. Corbine, 79, of Norfolk and formerly of Potsdam, will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Calling hours will be held on Friday, from 11 AM until the time of the service. Shirley passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital while surrounded by her family.
Surviving Shirley are a son, William W. Corbine II of Potsdam; two daughters, Maria I. Corbine and fiancé Jason O'Leary of Norfolk and Wendy Corbine and husband Dave Flight of Ogdensburg; six grandchildren, William Corbine III and companion Thelma of Potsdam; Emery Corbine and wife Kate of Canton; Eli Corbine of Potsdam; Noah O'Leary of Norfolk; Tristan Soucis and companion Cindy Beal of Maine and Talia Ridenhour and husband Ryan of Texas; three great-grandchildren, Violet Corbine, Rayce Ridenhour and Kristofer Norrell. Also surviving are a brother Richard Tamblin of Watertown, two sisters, Nancy Anthony of North Rose, NY and Claudia Draper of Watertown, a surrogate daughter, Irene Judware and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley is predeceased by two brothers, David and Arnold Tamblin and by two sisters, Marjorie Riordan and Barbara Franchot.
Shirley was born, February 14, 1937 in Watertown, the daughter of the late Emery and Ethel (Tuttle) Tamblin. She attended Hounsfield Central and Adams High School. She obtained her GED in 1989. On October 13, 1956, she married William W. Corbine I, at the Gouverneur Methodist Parsonage with Rev. William C. Wood, officiating. William predeceased her on July 5, 1990. Shirley worked for Head Start in Potsdam from 1970 to 1985. In 1989 she began working for Sunmount in Tupper Lake. She was an active member of the West Potsdam Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 9 years. Shirley enjoyed knitting and crafts.
