Shirley A. (Chambers) Holmes

Graveside Service for Shirley A. Holmes, 78, of Lisbon, will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Clare. There will be no calling hours. Shirley died on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Shirley is survived by her husband Bernard Holmes of Lisbon, by four sons, Charles Holmes and wife Dawn of Calcium; Jeffery Holmes and wife Lisa of Canton; Joseph Holmes and companion Rita Wright of Lisbon and Danny Holmes and wife Sheri of Gouverneur; by a daughter Charlene Day and husband Arnold of Lisbon; by three step children, Timothy Holmes of Plattsburg; Shane Holmes of Long Lake and Darcy Pryce and husband Steven of Pope Mills. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Shirley is predeceased by a step-son Bernard Holmes.
Shirley was born, May 3, 1936 in Canton, one of 12 children of the late Joseph and Olga (Paro) Chambers. She graduated from Knox-Memorial Central School. Shirley was a homemaker and self-employed house keeper. She married Charles Holmes and later Bernard Holmes.
Shirley had a love for flowers and gardening and enjoyed fishing. She was a past member of TOPS 102 Canton.
