Russell Palmer Harrington, 76 passed away at his home in Irmo, South Carolina on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Born December 12, 1932 in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania son of Jerry Francis Harrington and Jennie Graham McIntyre. Russ grew up the youngest with three older brothers and one sister. He graduated from the Hanover Township High School in 1953. Russ married August 1954 to Barbara Jean Horton currently of Lexington, South Carolina.
Russ loved to work and started his employment on Herold's Farm in Hanover, PA when he was 11 years old. He later worked for Jack and Dee Harrington at the Roman Gardens Restaurant in Potsdam. He was proud to have worked for the Tecon Corporation building the Saint Lawrence Seaway. From 1974-1984 Russ was employed and retired from the Saint Lawrence County Sheriff Civil Division. Russ was a major supporter for the Canton Pee Wee Minor Hockey Association and served as President from 1975-1979. He served as a village trustee for Canton from 1974-1980. One of Russ' greatest memories was being involved in the planning and fundraising for the Canton Pavilion completed in 1979. Russ was a volunteer fireman for the village of Canton from 1958 thru 1978. Life member of the Masonic lodge and attended the Presbyterian Church.
Russ valued his time on the Saint Lawrence River with friends and family.
Affectionately known as " RP" he will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends met along his journey of life from New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Florida.
Russ is survived by his Daughter: Dolores Ann Harrington-Hucks of Lexington, South Carolina and grandson Ryan, Son: John Russell Harrington and daughter- in-law Barbara Harrington of Fort Myers, Florida and two grandsons Michael and Dillon.

Russell was predeceased by his brother Jack Harrington of Massena, NY.
