Memorial Service for Roy J. "Red" Paro Jr; 88, of Massena, will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 5:00 PM at the Amvets Post 4 Riverfront Clubhouse, 280 Fregoe Rd; Massena, NY. Roy passed away on Sunday, July 5 at the Amvets Post 4, Camp Ground, where he was under the care of family and Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Surviving Roy are his daughter, Dee Ann (Mark) Webb of Grand Junction, CO; a sister, Shirley R. Gray of Massena; five grandchildren, John P. Lambert; David R. Paro II; Gabriel C. Morrison; Mariel E. Morrison and Killeen E. Morrison; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and his longtime companion, Cecile Briggs.
Roy is predeceased by a son, David R. Paro; by three sisters, M. Doreen Rotundo; Eva P. Mousaw and Grace J. Cinanni.
Roy was born, November 1, 1926 in Pyrites, NY, the son of the late Roy J. Sr. and Alice (Sharpstene) Paro. He graduated from High School and was a pipefitter for 35 years at ALCOA in Massena, retiring in 1988. Roy served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1948, serving in the Philippines. On December 22, 1951 he married Marlyn J. Towne, she predeceases Mr. Paro.
Roy was extremely athletic and loved to play all sports, especially Golf, he was a member of the Massena Amvets Post 4 and enjoyed country music.
