Graveside service for Rodney Hogle Sr. 75, of Pierrepont, will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Beech Plains Cemetery. Rodney died at home on Monday, October 20, 2014.
Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6 PM – 9 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton. Contributions in his memory may be made to Pierrepont Fire and First Responders.
Rodney is survived by his wife Patricia; three sons, Rodney and wife Teresa of Hermon; Theron and wife Julie of Pulaski and Jon and wife Caryn of Pierrepont; a daughter, Marnie Streit of Nichols, NY; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Harlow of Pierrepont; Vernon of Russell and Keith of Pierrepont; three sisters, Linda Prespare of Pierrepont; Angie Benton of Rochester and Kathy Wiley of Parishville and several nieces and nephews.
Rodney is predeceased by two daughters, Roberta Jo Hogle and infant Mary Helen and by a brother Rudy.
Rodney was born January 1, 1939 in the town of LeRay, the son of the late Clarence and Martha (Whitcomb) Hogle. He graduated from Colton-Pierrepont Central School. He served a term in the United States Air Force. He worked for Alcoa, Gaines and Sherman and was an independent tractor-trailer operator.
He married Patricia Gerrish on October 30, 1961. Rodney was a 40 year member of the Local 545 Operating Engineers Union and founding member of the St. Lawrence Gas and Steam Engine Association. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, tractors and engines, was a member of the Civil War Roundtable and loved being in the woods.
