Rodney H. Delorme

Funeral service for Rodney H. Delorme, 59, of Winthrop, formerly of Pyrites, will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton with Rev. Bill Scott, officiating. Burial will follow at the Hermon Cemetery. Rodney passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the O'Leary Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 24 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Associations.
Surviving Rodney are his wife, Debra Delorme or Winthrop; sons, Rick Delorme and wife Jessica of Canton; Nate Delorme and companion Raianna Ayotte of Louisville; a daughter, Amanda Delorme of Pyrites; step-sons, Roy Thompson and wife Aja of Huntington, VT; Adam Thompson and wife April of Potsdam; Jonathon Thompson and wife Amy of Potsdam; step-daughters, Karen Cameron and Chas of Louisville; and Jennifer Thompson and companion Lorenzo of Ogdensburg. Also surviving Rodney are a brother, Roger Delorme and wife Dixie of Clyde, TX; five sisters, Marcia Rogers of Abilene, TX; Danette and Neil Hance of Winthrop; Pamela Carrow and husband Charles of Abilene, TX; Dorcas Lottie and husband Russell of DeKalb; and Michelle Cronk and husband Wayne of Richville; by a half-sister Maryanne Munson and husband James of Russell. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Stacey Delorme, brothers, Randy and Eddie and infant brother Richard predecease him.
Rodney was born, April 7, 1954 in Canton, the son of the late, Edward "Red" and Audrey (Coffey) Delorme. Rodney was a member of the Hugh C. Williams High School Hall of Fame as a member of the first Section X Soccer Champions in 1971. He graduated from Canton High School in 1972 and from North Country Community College in Saranac Lake in 1974. Rodney was a farmer, most recently working for Pine Land Farms, Nicholville. He married Debra Dunbar Thompson on August 11, 2007 at the Lawrenceville Baptist Church.
Rodney enjoyed hunting, fishing and hobby farming and was known as "The Candy Man" by friends and family.
