Robert C. Ray left us on December 8th, 2023 at the age of 84 years old. To honor Bob's memory, calling hours will be held at O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton, NY on Tuesday December 12th, 4:00PM-7:00PM. On Wednesday December 13th, 2023 a funeral service will be held in his honor at 11:00AM. There will be a burial service in Hermon Cemetary followed by a Celebration of Life at the Olde DeKalb Hotel.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years Peggy A. (Simser) Ray. He and Peggy married in Briar Hill, NY on September 13, 1958. They later raised their four daughters in DeKalb Jct., NY; Blue Jay Fenlong (Andy), KatherineWhittaker (John), Robin Arquitt (Tom), and Penny Brand (Alan). They had nine grandchildren, Charles Law(Chelsea), Ryan Law, John Whittaker(Erica), Kaileigh Monk(Eric), Thomas Arquitt II, Tara Arquitt, Howard Arquitt, Amanda Brand, Alexi Brand(EJ). Pre-deceased by one grandchild Issac. Bob also had eleven great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brothers Allan Schuster(Mindy), Richard Ray(Molly), predeceased by his brothers James Ray and John Ray. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law Eileen Ray and Patricia Foley.

Bob and Peggy bought a camp on Lake Bonaparte in 1972 where they resided every summer, with their daughters until 1990 when they moved there permanently.

Bob was BEST KNOWN AS "THE MAN BEHIND THE BADGE", and "THE KING FISH".

Bob worked for Canton Hospital for several years, where he was considered the go to guy, and sometimes a real comedian. He knew laughter was the best medicine. He then accepted a position at St. Lawrence University as a Security Officer where he proudly held that position for 31 years. He took great pride in his position at St. Lawrence, working to help many students over the years. He made many lifelong friends, some that became family to him. Bob was also a 25+ year member of the DeKalb Junction Vol. Fire Department.

Bob owned Ray's Gun Shop for 39 years. He was a Master Gunsmith, and sold many guns to friends and neighbors. He so enjoyed his many conversations with his patrons. He could sit for hours talking guns, it was truly was his passion.
