Robert Harrington

Robert Harrington, 93, of Canton died on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where he had been a resident for a short time.

Robert was born December 12, 1932 in Pierrepont, a son of the late Clarence and Georgia (McCollum) Harrington. Robert graduated from Canton Central School in 1953 and served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1953 until his discharge in 1957.

On April 7, 1954. Robert married Barbara Colton at the East Highland Methodist Church in Columbus, GA while stationed with the Air Force. The couple resided in Georgia and North Carolina before returning and settling in Canton in 1957. Robert worked construction building the American Theatre in downtown and was employed by the Village of Canton as an electrician from 1973 until retiring in 1997, at which time he worked part time for the village and for himself as an electrician until 2002.

Robert was a former member of the Heuvelton Masonic Lodge, member of the Partridge Run Golf Course and was a square dance caller in the US and Canada for 23 years.

A graveside service for Robert will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery later in the year.
