Funeral mass for Robert J. Foster, 68, will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 12: noon at St. Mary's Church in Canton with Rev. Douglas Lucia, celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton. Rob died on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00am to 11:30am at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Park Street, Canton. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
Surviving Rob are two daughters, Donna Martin of Rochester and Jodi Burns of South Carolina; a brother Raymond of Russell; a sister Maryann Burch of Montrose, WV; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by two daughters, Margaret Rose Foster and Theresa Miller.
Rob was born November 26, 1942 in Russell, the son of the late Clifford and Anna (Hooley) Foster. He graduated from Knox Memorial Central School. He was a meat cutter by trade; he worked at the Newton Falls Paper mill and was a postal carrier in Canton. Marriages to Cherri Sayers and Carolyn Grant Hill ended in divorce.
Rob enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, cooking and hockey.
