Funeral service for Ridge Raymond Thorbahn, 21, of Canton will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 5:00pm at The Canton Central School Gymnasium with Pastor Martha Helmer, officiating. Ridge passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Friends may call at the O'Leary Funeral Home; Park St, Canton on Monday, April 4, from 7-9pm and on Tuesday, April 5 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Waters Center of Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders, Adams Ave, Syracuse, New York; The Jules of Life Foundation, Contact person Carmen Gendebren, Five mile Line Road, Lisbon or to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, 5005 Campuswood Drive, East Syracuse, New York.
Ridge was born in Potsdam, New York on December 19, 1989 to Eugene Guyette and Tina Holmes. He attended Canton Central School where he was known for his love of sports. He was on the National Honor Society and played baritone and valve trombone in band. Upon graduation he received a scholarship to Clarkson University where he was majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. He had to drop out in 2009 after being diagnosed with three type's o f cancer.
Ridge is survived by his fiancé© Katie Hale; father Eugene Guyette and fiancé© Dixie Weeks; mother Tina Holmes and companion James Davenport; two brothers Jesse Thorbahn and fiancé© Cortney Leonard; Eugene Thorbahn Jr. and companion Alicia McGree; a sister Faith Datoma; his second set of parents Mark and Nicole Rood and their sons, his best friends Brandon and Dalton Rood; grandparents Tad and Lettie Holmes; Jean Thorbahn and step-grandmother Alice Race and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
He is predeceased by a grandfather Robert Guyette and by two step-grandfathers Dick Race and Alan Thorbahn.
