Ricky J. Powell

Ricky J. Powell, 66, of Canton passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, August 2026.

Ricky was born November 18, 1959 in Potsdam, a son of the late Stanley and Geraldine (LaPoint) Powell. Ricky was a proud past member of the Potsdam Fire Department, was an avid Boston Bruins fan, and loved music and collecting records.

Ricky is survived by three nieces, Ashley (Charles) Shampine, April Coffey (Richard) and Amanda (Billy) Caughey and by great-nieces and nephews, Mary, Joseph, Dominic, Olivia, Patrick, Liam, Aiden and Logan and a brother-in-law, Bruce Stevens.

In addition to his parents Stanley and Geraldine, a sister, Patricia Stevens predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 756; Potsdam, New York 13676.

In accordance with Ricky’s wishes, there will be no services.
