Peter Alan Gilson-Markel passed away on July 30, 2016 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, while surrounded by family. He is survived by his parents, David Markel and Hillary Gilson of Canton; by a brother, Blake Markel of Waterloo; by two sisters, Arieana St. Andrews of Canton; Aleigh Markel of Waterloo; by paternal grandparents, David and Melissa Markel of Seneca Falls; by maternal grandmother, Debra Gilson of Canton and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Peter Gilson.
