Funeral service for Patrick J. "Pat" Conant, 76, of Canton, will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton with Pastor Fred Sykes, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Pat died on Sunday, September 6, 2015 while in Suffolk, VA.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society; 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
Pat is survived by his wife Ida of Canton; by a son, Warren Thomas Conant and wife Kimberly of Chesapeake, VA; by a daughter Sheila Anne Pavlikowski and husband Martin of Suffolk, VA; by a half-brother,  Roger G. Conant of Canton, by a step-brother Raymond Clarence Mead of South Carolina, by a step-sister Julia Blanchard of South Carolina and by nieces and nephews.
Pat is predeceased by his parents, Clarence G. and Mildred Conant and by his step-mother, Kathleen McCarthy Mead-Conant, by his twin brother Clarence J. "Joey" Conant, by a brother Robert Conant,  by a sister, Margaret Conant and by a step-sister Mary Eileen Hanson.
Pat was born, September 20, 1938 in Canton, the son of Clarence G. and Mildred (Murray) Conant. He graduated from Hermon-DeKalb School. Pat served in the US Air Force briefly. Pat began working for the US Postal Service in 1959 as a custodian and retired as Postmaster of the Potsdam Post Office, including stops as Postmaster of the Russell Post Office and the Norfolk Post Office. He was involved in many community organizations and was an active member and elected officer of NAPUS, the National Association of Postmasters of the United States.
