Ollie G. (Miller) "Candy" Sheridan

Canton, New York

Ollie G. "Candy" Sheridan, 79, formerly of Canton died peacefully on Saturday, December 23 at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake where she had been a resident for the past five years.

Candy was born October 14, 1944 in Gassway, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Paul and Amelia (Wheeler) Miller. She attended Canton High School. Candy worked for several years at the Canton Deli and at the Super Duper where she was known for her delicious macaroni  and potato salads. On April 27, 1974 she married the love of her life Richard F. Sheridan in Canton with Rev. Seldon Ward, officiating. Richard predeceased her on May 7, 2016.

Following marriage, she was a homemaker, raising their family. She loved her friends and family, and filled her home with warmth and kindness. Candy also had a love for animals, feeding the squirrels and birds, cooking, baking and taking care of Richard and other family. She was also a member of the Canton VFW Post 1231 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her three children, Virginia Sheridan, Rob Roy Sheridan, and Richard JR(Candace) Sheridan, and step-daughter Jacqueline (Danny) Leashomb, brothers Paul Miller Jr. and William (Julia) Miller and a sister Votie (Duane) Moore. Also surviving are several cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren ,nieces and nephews. She spent  quality time with grandchildren Candy, Nickie, Bryan, Bethany and Alyssa who she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got.

In addition to her parents Paul and Amelia, and her beloved husband Richard, she was predeceased by two step-daughters Deanna Sheridan Stevenson and Cathy Sheridan-Froats.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests to plant a tree in her memory or those wishing may make a donation to a charity of one's choice.

A graveside service and joint interment for Candy and Richard will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Fairview Cemetery, Canton
