Michael J. Collo

Michael J. Collo, 78, of Canton died on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he had been a patient for a few days following a brief illness.

Michael was born March 22, 1948 in Canton, a son of the late Michael A. and Madeline (Boshane) Collo. He was a graduate of Canton Central School. Michael worked for 39 ½ years at the Canton P&C, retiring when it was sold. Michael was a NY Yankees, Giants and Rangers fan and could often be found watching any of those teams and enjoying the company at the Stadium Sports Bar, formerly Dave’s.

Michael is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Carkner, Pat (Ken) Arey and Fran (David) Lawrence, nieces and nephews Jeffrey (Sharon) Carkner, Lori (Mark) Murphy, Christopher Lawrence, Theresa Arey and Melissa Arey and by several great-nieces and nephews and by one great-great niece.

In addition to his parents Michael and Madeline, Michael was predeceased by a sister Mary Waite, a niece Teri Carkner and brother-in-law William Carkner.

Calling hours for Michael will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. A Memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held in the Madrid Cemetery, following the service.
