Funeral services for Mary J. Richardson, 75, a resident of United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, formerly of Canton, will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Richardson passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center where she had been a patient for a short time. Arrangements are under the direction of O'Leary Funeral Service of Canton.
Surviving Mrs. Richardson are nine daughters, Cindy Rose and Gloria Hunter both of Philadelphia, NY; Penny Carpenter of Syracuse; Christine Rookey of Rochester; Linda Taylor of Potsdam; Bonnie Knapp of Syracuse; Vicki Bennett of Rensselaer Falls; Sandra Downing of Heuvelton; Wendy Perry of Madrid; a sister Rose Bush of Canton; and several grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born December 1, 1932, in Canton, daughter of the late Loyal and Ettie (Humphreys) Ladison, she attended Canton Schools. Mrs. Richardson worked for several years at the Cascade Restaurant in Canton before having her own restaurant, M&R's Restaurant in Rensselaer Falls, later she worked for United Helpers Canton Nursing Home as a Certified Nurses Assistant.
Mrs. Richardson enjoyed cooking, knitting, and gardening. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a Girl Scout leader. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley at 6805 U.S. Hwy 11, Potsdam, New York 13617.
