Mary Lou C (Place) Agel

Calling hours for Mary Lou C. Agel, 69, of Colton will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Highway 11; Canton at which time friends will be asked to share a few memories. Mary Lou passed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday September 14, 2014.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Bob Agel; daughters, Judi Chase and Melissa Conant; sons, Robert and Donald Agel; and grandchildren, Tyler Taranto, Trevor McCarthy, Joshua Agel, Matthew Agel, Amelia Conant and Kaelyn Conant. Also surviving are sisters, Nancy Joly, Patricia Goolden and Susanne Robinson.

Mary Lou was born in Canton on December 22, 1944, the daughter of the late Donald and Harriette (Gallinger) Place. She graduated from Canton High School and went on to business school and then began working at Bausch & Lomb Co. in Rochester, New York, where she met and married Charles Robert "Bob" Agel in 1966.

Mary Lou not only opened her heart to her own four children, but to 78 foster children over a 10 year period and found time to help her community as Court Clerk, Election Inspector and as President of Ladies of the Amvets Post 262. In recent years, she particularly loved spending time with her many friends and her six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, New York 13676.
