Marlo was born June 16th, 1947, in Canton, NY, to Charles Buffalo and Alice Chase and was taken from us on October 2nd, 2025, at 12:35 AM.
Marlo left behind a loving wife of 58 years, Connie Fifield. They were married in DeKalb at St. Henry's Catholic Church on July 1st, 1967.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Chase; a brother, Marcell (Sharon) Chase; a son, Jeffrey (Staci) Chase of Newark, NY; two daughters, Sherry (Stuart) Brabaw of Hermon, NY, and Kelly (Clarence) Cleveland of Hermon, NY. His grandchildren, Cortney Brabaw and DJ Sussey, Cody Cleveland, Logan and Kacie Brabaw, Matthew Chase and Segwon Dailey, Zack Cleveland and Ashley, Mackenzie and Hailey Chase, Kelsey Cleveland and Storm Blackburn; two granddaughter-in-laws, Mollie Cleveland and Brooke Toth; and his great-grandchildren, Erik and Noah, Addison, Pyper, Danielle, Matthew, Kathlyn, Everett, Ivory, Grayson, and Lucie.
Marlo was predeceased by his grandson, Jeffrey Michael Chase; his parents, Charles Buffalo and Alice Chase; and his two sisters, Pauline and Blanch, and two brothers, Sandford and Lawrence.
Throughout the years Marlo worked at Kraft Food, owned his own body shop, worked at Peters Body Shop on Riverside Drive in Canton, NY, and was a Foreman of construction crews in Canton, building the McDonald's and Reagans Apartments in Potsdam, NY. Marlo was incredibly talented, building many homes in the area and often helping friends and neighbors fix up their houses. He was known for his skills as a carpenter and cabinet maker, with his beautiful handcrafted furniture often displayed throughout his home. There wasn't a thing Marlo couldn't build.
Marlo was always a jokester, with a joke for every occasion right up until his final hours. His infectious laugh and sense of humor were a bright light to all who knew him.
Above all, Marlo's greatest pride and joy was his family. His love for them was unwavering, and it was that love that fostered a yearly family reunion that became a cherished tradition. What began as a small gathering grew over the years into a much-anticipated event, bringing together not only immediate family but extended relatives and friends. These reunions were a testament to the bond he shared with his loved ones and the joy he found in bringing everyone together. Marlo will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family, his generosity, and his ability to make those around him feel loved and valued.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Marlo will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
Calling hours for Marlo will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Hermon Cemetery.
