Funeral services for Marjorie F. Bushaw, 86, formerly of Riverside Drive, Canton, will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 11:00am at O'Leary Funeral Service in Canton with the Rev. Chuck Forbes, Pastor of canton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in South Russell Cemetery will follow the service. Mrs. Bushaw passed away on Sunday, November 09, 2008 at the Pine of Peace Comfort Care Home, Ontario, New York where she had been under Hospice Care since mid-Septmeber.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Contributions in her memory may be to the Canton Volunteer rescue Squad or to Pines of Peace Comfort Care Home, 2378 Ridge Road, Ontario, New York 14519.
Surviving Mrs. Bushaw are three children; Gary Bushaw of Canton, Spencer Rabetoy of Ontario, NY; Cathy Stohr of Williamson, NY; a sister Mavis Whitmarsh of Lady Lakes Florida; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Hazen and Harold Towne, three sisters; Geneva Goulette; Mildred Burt and Marlyn "Molly" Paro predecease her.
Born July 4, 1922 in Russell, daughter of the late Roscoe and Tacy (Clintsman) Towne. She lived most of her childhood in Claire, NY and went to school there as well, then graduated in 1940 from Knox-Memorial central School. She was married twice. She worked in Canton for over 40 years holding several different jobs. She worked as a waitress at the Miss Canton Diner, Billy's Restaurant and the Sugar Bowl, later known as Ralph's Restaurant for almost 20 years. Around 1960 she went to work for Canton ATI Student Association. In 1964 she started working for the State University of New York, as a custodian and continued on the new Canton ATC Campus opening in 1968 till she retired from SUNY Canton in 1987.
She was a member of the Canton United Methodist Church. Her interests include her family, puzzles, reading, visiting friends, and watching TV soaps.
