Born August 28, 1910 in Florida, New York, daughter of the late Edgar and Clara Houston. In 1912, the family moved to Bellvale, New York where she attended a two-room country school. Mrs. Meng married A. Michael Meng in the Bellvale Methodist Church on August 19, 1933. In 1938 the couple moved to Canton. In 1953 Peg resumed teaching as a third grade teacher in the Canton School District, retiring in 1968.

Peg enjoyed reading, bridge, playing the piano and gardening. She was always very athletic, beginning with winning the shot put at New Paltz, continuing with diving at the Sand Banks, and riding her bike until she was 80. She was also noted for standing on her head for her school classes and her 50th wedding anniversary celebration. She was a member of the retired teachers association, AARP and the Methodist Church in canton where she sang in the choir for many years.
