Margaret M. Allen

Funeral services for Margaret M. Allen, 93, of Madrid will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Margaret died on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Fletcher-Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.
Surviving Margaret are three sons, Keith W. Allen of Mt. Vernon, MO; Tim Allen and wife Carol of Canton; Terry Allen and wife Melissa of Madrid; two daughters, Betty Allen-O'Neil and husband Raymond of Madrid; Karmen Gurney and husband Norman of Southfield, MI. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and several grand and great-grandchildren.
Margaret is predeceased by two brothers, William and Mick Goodcourage, by an infant sister Lillian Goodcourage, a grandson Keith Allen and by a daughter in law Dorothy Allen.
Margaret was born on August 19, 1920 in Northfield, Vermont, the daughter of the late William R. and Nellie (LaDue) Goodcourage. She graduated from Potsdam High School in 1939. On February 27, 1940, she married Keith Allen in Buck's Bridge at the home of Rev. Dr. Hailey, Keith predeceased her in 1974. Margaret was a homemaker on the family farm.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Empire Chapter #68. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, crossword puzzles, Fox News and flower gardening.
