Lyndon James Gilbert

Funeral services for Lyndon James Gilbert, 78, of Canton, formerly of the Potsdam and Parishville area, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton,
with Rev. Douglas Lucia, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9am until the service. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Potsdam will follow.
Mr. Gilbert was born on February 21, 1931 in Parishville, son of the late Isaac and Ethel (Stone) Gilbert.

He owned and operated his own dairy farm in the Potsdam- Parishville area for
58 years. Due to poor health, Lyndon sold his farm and moved to Canton in 2004.

Lyndon married Irene Mary Connelly on Oct. 14, 1978, in South Colton; she predeceased him on March 12th, 2000.

Surviving are three brothers, Dean T. Gilbert and wife Phyllis of Saranac Lake; Dale Gilbert of Ogdensburg; Ronald Gilbert and wife Cindy of Potsdam. Also surviving are six step-children: Jack A. Connelly of Chula Vista, California; Stephen B. Connelly of Potsdam; Jerry P. Connelly of Syracuse; Andrew J. Connelly of South Colton; Dianne M Connelly of Columbia, Maryland; and Peggy L. Cashman of Canton, with whom Lyndon resided for three and a half years prior to entering United Helpers Canton Nursing Home.

Three brothers; Gordon, Willard and Walter Gilbert predecease him.

Lyndon's hobbies were his farm animals, which he loved dearly. Lyndon also took great pleasure in reading his Bible
