Lorraine J. Horne, 78, of Gouverneur passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown where she was in the company of family.
Lorraine was born October 11, 1947 in Gouverneur, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Delma M. (Baker) Blackburn. Lorraine graduated from local area schools. Lorraine was predeceased by husbands Earl Fredenburg with whom she had her children, Orin Durham and most recently Barry M. Horne.
Lorraine was a nurse aide, working in several facilities in the Utica area, she was also a cashier for Walmart in Florida and Watertown, but her most cherished job was mother and grandmother. She enjoyed watching westerns, wrestling and cooking shows, including “Chopped”, gardening, fishing, birds and bird watching.
Lorraine in survived by her son, Donald Fredenburg Sr.(Joanne Cowley), grandchildren Kristy Monahan, Lawrence Monahan, Adam Cowley and Michael Monahan II, sisters Janet Heise, Sally Grasso and Sue (Delbert) Coller. Also surviving are her beloved boyfriend George Reynolds, her kittens Sky and Joy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, husbands Earl, Orin and Barry, she was predeceased by three children Michael and Earl Fredenburg and Laurie Monahan, a grandson Donald “DJ” Fredenburg Jr. and by siblings Gary Blackburn, Arlene Blackburn and infant Donald Blackburn and her beloved dog, Harley.
Calling hours for Lorraine will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. A funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Hailesboro Cemetery.
