CANTON—Linda Hogle Prespare, passed away on Saturday December 12th at Riverledge in Ogdensburg , NY. Known for her skill as a quilter, Linda also pieces that life gave her to cut, stitch, press, fit and rip out and stitch again into an heirloom Quilt taking from and passing on to future generations.
Linda was born in Theresa, NY on September 30, 1943 to Clarence and Martha (Whitcomb) Hogle. Her siblings were stitched into a beginner's block. They include Harlow (Joyce) Hogle, Vernon (Fran) Hogle, Angela Benton, Kathy (Vic) Wiley and Keith Hogle. Her brothers, Rudy and Rodney pre-deceased her. She married Raymond Prespare in December 1962 and stitched together with her love more pieces of her quilt. Her children include Shelli (Lynn) Prespare-Weston, Ronnie Prespare and Ronda Lemaster. Lasting friendships with Jeanne and Clifford Green and Patty Zeller added brightness and color to this quilt. Linda's ability to make the most of any situation allowed her to stitch the staff and residents of Riverledge neatly into place.
All blocks were stitched with the threads of her life experiences living in Pierrepont and attending Colton-Pierrepont Central School and the Selleck School. She was an owner and operator of the West Pierrepont Country Store throughout the 1970's. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, puzzles, Jeopardy, and Scrabble. She used her many talents tied together with strength, her quiet ability to mentor others, love, tenacity, wit and intelligence, sense of humor and loyalty to friends and family to complete the special quilt that warms all who knew her.
