Kenneth Eugene Austin

Memorial services for Kenneth E. Austin, 89, North Carolina, will be held at a later date in Great Falls, Montana. Mr. Austin passed away December 24, 2008 at Greenfield Place, Greenville, North Carolina where he had been a resident for some time.

Surviving Mr. Austin are a sister Katherine Buck of New York, a niece Rebecca Austin and husband Kevin and their families of Greenville, NC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by three sisters, Carrie Elizabeth Austin, Lena Esther Austin and Dorothy Etta Austin; by four brothers, Harold Abiel Austin, George Harmon Austin, John Charles Austin and William Carroll Austin.

Mr. Austin was born September 25, 1919 in Russell, son of the late Carroll Abial and Katherine Goldie (Sharpstine) Austin. He married June L. Webb on July 24, 1945 at the Methodist Parsonage in Canton. The marriage ended in divorce. There was a second marriage to Margaret Wood Zaldasta. Mr. Austin served in the United States Army during WWII, part of the 82nd Airborne Regime and was a paratrooper, performing several combat jumps. He later was owner and operator of Gene's TV repair in Alameda, California.

Mr. Austin enjoyed playing pool, traveling, Dr. Pepper and visiting family and friends.
