John Spencer Kenny, 76, died on November 4, 2013 at his home while surrounded by family. He was a long time renal patient. John was born on September 16, 1937 in Schenectady, NY, to K. Eugene and Charlotte Eikenberry Kenny; John graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and was captain of its first football team. After a freshman year at St. Lawrence University, John moved with the family to the Midwest where he finished his college degree in History at Franklin College, the school his family attended. That is also where he met his wife, Linda Drake Kenny. They have two children, Amy Kenny Bluhm (Andy) of Winnetka, Illinois and Christopher John Kenny (Rose) and three grandsons, Cooper Benjamin Bluhm, Emmett Gordon Bluhm, and Hudson Jonah Bluhm. He is also survived by two brothers; Joseph Kenny of Indianapolis, Indiana and Peter Kenny of Newport Beach, California. John also holds a Master's Degree in Education from St. Lawrence University.
His work included jobs in Admissions at Franklin College, Alfred University, St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University. He was also Director of Financial Aid at St. Lawrence University and worked for three years at New York State Higher Education Services Corporation in Albany, NY.
Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to the canton Free Library, Canton, New York or Agarwal Renal Center, Ogdensburg, New York.
