Joann J. Murphy, 78, Auburn, New York and formerly of Canton died in the company of family on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, where she had been a patient for a short time. Joann was born July 5, 1945 in Canton, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mayfred (Kio) Murphy. She graduated from Knox Memorial School in 1965 and spent her working career with the Welch-Allyn Company. Joann was a "Jill-of-all-trades", she with a little assistance from the Amish built her home on the Canton-Russell Road. She enjoyed all sort of crafts and puzzles and loved being at camp, with hopes one day of living there full time. Joann is survived by a son, John Myers of Auburn, NY and a daughter Michelle (Alejandro) Muniz of Albany, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Alfred and Mayfred, she was predeceased by six siblings, Ella Murphy, Charles Murphy, Rosalie Ritchie, Barbara Supensky, Hazel Roy and Muriel Moncrief. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00am at the Fairview Cemetery, Canton.
