Joan M. Dafoe, 82, of Canastota, NY and formerly of Canton, passed away on September 7, 2015 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, where she has resided for the last four years.
Joan was born at her childhood home in Parishville on March 21, 1933, the daughter of the late Elmer and Marion (Bush) Votra. She married Wesley Dafoe on July 31, 1954, he predeceased her on August 23, 2011. She worked at Ralph's Restaurant for 14 years, she took in ironing and cleaned at various local establishments.
Joan is survived by four daughters, Darlene Snell of Clinton, NY; Karen Claflin and husband Jack of Canastota, NY; Kelly Conner and husband Leon III; Dawn Holmes and husband Charles; and son Kraig Dafoe, all of Topeka, KS. Also surviving are a sister Lena Weatherup of California; two brothers, Elmer Votra of Canton and Gary Votra of Potsdam; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a brother, Peter Votra, a sister Joyce Murdock, son-in-law Paul Snell and a grandson Kevin Conner.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 12 noon to 3:00 PM with a funeral service at 3 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton, NY.
