Jessie B. Stratton

Funeral service for Jessie B. Stratton, 79 of Colton will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2:00pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Ed Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Plains Cemetery. Mrs. Stratton passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 12:00pm until the time of the service. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Pierrepont Volunteer Fire Department or to Colton Rescue.
Surviving Jessie are her companion of 32 years, Arthur Remillard; three sons, Steve and wife Bonnie of Pierrepont; Donald and wife Cindy of Peru, NY; Duane and companion Sandy of Pierrepont; three daughters, Judy Hoyt and husband Robert of Pierrepont; Nancy Carrow of Tupper Lake; Glenda Hoyt and husband William of Pierrepont; two sisters, Harriet Law of Potsdam; Shirley Thayler of Connecticut; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Jessie is predeceased by a son Lee, a son Harold and a daughter, both infants, by brothers, Ralph, Glenn and Lewis Van Brocklin and sisters Alice Grange, Hazel Taylor, Lois Grout and Emma Jean Whitman.
Born April 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Lewis and Louise (McDonald) Van Brocklin. She graduated from West Pierrepont Central School. She married Glenn Stratton on April 30, 1947, Mr. Stratton predeceased her in 1976. Jessie worked for Barlow's Nursing Home, and was a cook at McCarthy's Restaurant and at the Cascade.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
