Mass of Christian Burial for James P. "Jim" Yaeger, 56, of Canton, will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Church; Canton with Rev. Douglas Lucia, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Cranberry Lake Cemetery. Jim died on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Calling hours will be on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM. Contribution in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
Jim is survived by his wife, Roberta of Canton; by a son, Jacob Martin Yaeger of Canton; daughter Rachael Lea Yaeger of Brooklyn; by his father Martin Yaeger; by his mother, Carole (John) Merchant; by brothers, Bill (Cindy) Yaeger and Mike (Kim) Yaeger; and by a sister, Barb (Bob) Hodge. Also surviving are two step-brothers, Scott Enter and John Merchant and by step-sisters, Cathy Stein and Patty Merchant, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim is predeceased by his step-mother, Mildred Yaeger.
Jim was born, July 16, 1958 in Rochester, New York; the son of Martin and Carole (Ryan) Yaeger. He attended St. Rita's in Webster, NY and graduated from Clifton-Fine High School in Star Lake and late from Alfred University. Jim married Roberta Whalen on September 17, 1983 in Saranac Lake. He was a member of Local 38 Painters Union, Co-Owner of Zoom Drywall and Plant Manager for Witherbee and Whalen, where he retired from last year.
Jim was a Master Scuba Diver Instructor, member of Blue Fin Divers, car and motorcycle hobbyist. He enjoyed camping, fishing, crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with family and friends. Jim was a friend to many and will be missed by all.
