Harold O. Huntress

Funeral services for Harold B. Huntress, 73, of Buck Street, Canton, will be held at the convenience of the family. Mr. Huntress passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, where he had been a patient since Monday. Contributions in his memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley at 6805 U.S. Highway 11, Potsdam, New York 13617.

Surviving Mr. Huntress are a brother Ronald and Suzanne Huntress of Liverpool, NY; two nephews, two nieces, one great nephew, six great nieces, one great-great nephew.

Born July 16, 1935 in Canton, son of the late Cleland and Dorothy (Payne) Huntress. He graduated from Canton central School in 1953 and went into the United States Army, serving from 1955 to 1956. He returned and graduated from Canton ATI in 1961 with an A.A.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. On June 6, 1964 he married Eleanor Ladison at the Canton United Methodist Church with Rev. Calvin Zimmer Officiating, Mrs. Huntress predeceased him on June 3, 1999. Mr. Huntress worked for Gouverneur Iron Works for many years, retiring in 1998.

Mr. Huntress was a member of the Canton VFW Post 1231.
