Gertrude A. Richardson

Funeral service for Gertrude A. Richardson, 90, of Canton will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Mary's Church in Canton with Rev. Douglas Lucia, celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Richardson passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 with her family by her side.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 2, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Mary's Church , 66 Court Street, Canton, New York 13617.
Surviving Mrs. Richardson are four sons; Paul and wife Mayra Richardson of Newnan, GA; Dan Richardson of San Diego, CA; Leo and wife Bonita and daughter Danielle Richardson of Keller, TX; Mark and wife Diana and daughter Juliana Richardson of Canton; four daughters; Linda and son Brian Singleton of Pueblo, CO; Jane and husband Richard Cartwright of Escondido, CA; Martha and husband Michael and sons Patrick and Ethan and daughter Lauren Mackey of Voorheesville, NY; Ann and husband Richard and daughter Sarah and son Jacob Kendall of Sayre, PA; a sister Shirley and husband Robert Burns of Ogdensburg.
A son Andrew Richardson, twin to Mark, brothers, Thomas, Richard, Albert and Clifford Ames and sisters Bernice and Marie Ames predecease her.
Born July 20, 1919 in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Alban and Grace (Riley) Ames. She graduated from Canton Schools. She started working at the age of 16 as an operator for New York Telephone. On October 21, 1943 she married Frank Richardson, at St. Mary's Church in Canton with Rev. C. Albert Richardson, brother of the groom, officiating. Mr. Richardson predeceased her on October 6, 2003.
Mrs. Richardson was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, an active volunteer for Church Benefits and bereavement gatherings. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
