Gerald A. "Jerry" Peterson

Gerald A. "Jerry" Peterson, 74, of Canton died on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where he had been a resident for about a month. Jerry was born February 23, 1951 in Waddington, a son of the late Alton and Catherine (Akins) Peterson. He was a 1969 graduate of Canton Central School. Jerry worked for several years for the Carpenters Union, before becoming disabled. On August 8, 1987, Jerry married the love of his life, Una Rutherford. Una predeceased him July 29, 2023. Jerry enjoyed camping, watching old westerns, fishing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends and talking about "The Good Ole Days". Jerry is survived by a daughter, Nicole Jackson, sister Linda Peterson, a good friend Bruce Smith and nieces and nephews. In addition to Una and his parents Alton and Catherine, Jerry was predeceased by a brother James Peterson and sister Cheryl Cooley. A joint burial service for Jerry and Una will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Crary Mills Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.olearyfuneralservice.com.
