Gary L. Lucas

Funeral service for Gary L. Lucas, 51, of Pierrepont, will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Highway 11; Canton with Rev. Rob Schirmer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Plains Cemetery. Gary died on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 29 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hope Lodge, 237 East Ave, Burlington, VT 05401.
Surviving Gary are his wife of 30 years, Lucinda of Pierrepont; two sons, Gary Foote and wife Trudy of Pyrites and Andrew Lucas and wife Vanessa of Potsdam; four daughters, Rebecca Flanagan; Megan Flanagan and husband Jonathan and Kami Flanagan and husband Steven, all of Rensselaer Falls; and Sonja Lucas and fiancé© Matt Soulia of Canton. Also surviving are brothers, James Lucas and companion Jan English; Robert Lucas of Hermon; Marvin Lucas and wife Penny of Hermon; Frank Lucas of Canton; Gerald Lucas of Canton and Francis Lucas and partner Bobby Serfine of Syracuse; three sisters, Lucille Harris of DeKalb; Norma Lottie and husband Robert of DeKalb and Suzanne Flanagan and husband Gene of Pierrepont as well as 13 grandchildren.
Gary is predeceased by three brothers, Clifford, Randy and Lawrence Lucas and by sisters, Donna Lucas and Geraldine Gilson.
Gary was born June 30, 1962 in Canton, the son of the late Robert and Mary (Vancor) Lucas. He graduated from Canton High School and later from SUNY Canton with a degree in Criminal Justice. Gary married Lucinda on August 13, 1983 at the Canton United Methodist Church. Gary was employed by Securitas Security Services of Liverpool, working at the SLC Department of Social Services Building in Canton.
Gary enjoyed fishing, wolves and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
