Memorial Service for Gary T. Goolden, 65, of Cranberry Lake will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 4pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1pm until the time of the service. Gary died unexpectedly on Monday, July 9, while in New Jersey.
Surviving Gary is his wife of 44 years, Patricia; three children, Geoffrey Goolden and wife Renee of New Jersey; Brian Goolden of Syracuse and Tricia Snyder of Star Lake. He is also survived by his father, Theodore Goolden and step-mother Beverly; by grandchildren, Megan Elise Brown; Sarah Ann Goolden; Caitlin Alyssa Goolden; Kevin Gary Goolden; Paige Goolden; Hannah Goolden and Elias Jaywolf Snyder; and by a great-granddaughter Emmalyn Patricia Silsby.
He is predeceased by his sister Kathy Todd.
Gary was born, November 24, 1946 in Canton, the son Theodore and the late Irma (Dishaw) Goolden. He graduated in 1964 from Canton Central and4 years later from Oswego College. He married Patricia Anne Place, November 4, 1967. Gary taught social studies at OFA for 35 years and was hockey coach for 10.
Gary was a volunteer firefighter for Cranberry Lake Fire and Rescue, an avid boater, snowmobiler and outdoorsman. Gary was a past member of the Clifton Fine Lions club as well as the Ogdensburg BPOE. Gary was a previous long term president of the Ogdensburg Educational Association. He substituted at Clifton-Fine Central School while in retirement. Gary, "Pa" loved his grandchildren.
