Frederick L. Smith

Funeral services for Frederick L. Smith, 51 of Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 11:00am at O'Leary Funeral Service in Canton with the Rev. Bill Hart officiating. Mr. Smith passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 at University Hospital, Syracuse where he had been a patient since the 12th.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of the service. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Surviving Mr. Smith are his mother Gertrude Smith of Ilion, NY; a daughter Melissa Mussen and her husband Michael of Rensselaer Falls, three grandchildren, Jordynne, Justin and Carmen Mussen of Rensselaer Falls, four brothers; Earl Smith of Colton; Tommy Smith of Cortland; Alan Smith of Herkimer; Albert Smith of Indiana; four sisters; Kathy Dunn, Diane Wheelock, Robin Singer and Susie Smith, all of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A brother Leo and a sister Joyce Loloman predecease him.

Born June 15, 1957 in Herkimer, son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Gilbert) Smith. He attended Herkimer Schools. He married Ramona Chambers on October 13, 1979.He worked a variety of jobs over the years but enjoyed roofing the most. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching football and baseball, liked to hunt and fish. Most of all he enjoyed spending all the time he could with his grandchildren.
