Calling hours for Frances Schwartfigure (Fry), 67, of Russell, NY; town of Clare, will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton. Friends may gather following calling hours at the Canton VFW Post 1231 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Frances died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at home in the arms of her daughter Leona, with their seven dogs. Frances loved dogs.
Surviving Frances are 4 sons, Peter Cook and companion Nora Janack of Constable; Richard Schwartfigure and companion Nicole Curtis of Edwards; Leo Schwartsfigure and companion Bonnie Hooper of Ogdensburg and Andrew Cook and wife Kasie of Richville; three daughters, Cathy Cook of Franklin, NC; Leona Schwartfigure and companion Edgar "Junior" Blackmer of Russell and Rebecca Compo and husband Scott "Skip" of Ogdensburg.
She is predeceased by her husband Douglas Fry in 2011 and by a son Leland Cook in 2008.
Frances was born on May 20, 1946 in Albion. Frances attended Ogdensburg Schools and later received a GED. She was a Certified Nurses Aid at United Helpers Nursing Home. Frances loved her job and retirement was hard for her. She had to keep herself busy, for she was always doing for everyone else.
She was a councilwoman in Clare for several years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, kids, planting flowers, fishing and most definitely her dogs.
