Esther Jane (Reynolds) Barker

Esther Jane Barker, 86, of South Wales, NY and formerly of Heuvelton, died peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at United Helpers RIverLedge in Ogdensburg.

Esther was born November 13, 1931 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Earl Erwin and Lena Esther (Austin) Reynolds. She attended school on the Kelly Road and graduated from Heuvelton Central School and later from Ogdensburg Business School. Esther worked for Acco after graduation. On August 25, 1955, Esther was married to Reginald Wells Barker. She and Reginald moved to South Wales in 1959, and she resided there until 2017.

Esther helped with the American Red Cross, 4-H, she was a member of her local Grange and Methodist Church. Esther was also fond of the South Wales Fire Department and Rescue Squad and assisted them with pies and dinners during fundraising.

Esther is survived by a son Jeffrey of Ogdensburg; daughter Susan of Ogdensburg; two sisters, Elizabeth A. (Weatherup) Tompkins of Walla Walla, WA; Ellen Reynolds of Canton and a brother, David Reynolds of Canton.

Esther is predeceased by her husband, Reginald and by a brother, Donald.
